He runs a macular degeneration clinic in various hospitals in Reading and Windsor, offering patients in Berkshire and surrounding areas high-quality retinal care. While being a senior NHS consultant, he also offers expert private care to patients who need it, providing eye injections (Anti-VEGF or Intravitreal injections) and laser treatment. Mr Kumar will perform a detailed dilated examination to assess the retina and establish a diagnosis. Using advanced scans and imaging, he will then recommend the most appropriate management, which may include careful monitoring, injections, laser treatment, or eye drops.
Certain eye conditions, such as AMD and diabetic macular oedema, may require a course of injections to resolve the fluid build-up at the back of the eye. There are several options available for the type of injection, which can be discussed in further detail during your consultation.
Mr Kumar is a highly experienced ophthalmic consultant with over 35 years of expertise in medical retina and additionally serves as the Consultant Lead for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) at Prince Charles Eye Unit, Windsor. With significant expertise in the management of complex retinal disorders, he is dedicated to providing expert assessment, treatment, and ongoing care for retinal conditions, helping patients achieve the best possible vision outcomes and quality of life.
