About Mr Praveen Kumar
Mr. Kumar graduated from JIPMER, one of India’s most prestigious medical institutions, where he completed both his residency in ophthalmology and earned a Diploma and Master’s degree in the speciality. His commitment to excellence led him to pursue a Glaucoma Fellowship at Aravind Eye Hospital, one of the world’s largest and most respected eye care centres. Here, he refined his surgical techniques and deepened his expertise in treating other complex eye conditions such as cataracts and retinal disorders.
He began his career in the UK with an observership at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, before undergoing advanced training at various esteemed eye units across the UK. Mr. Kumar has been a consultant with the NHS since 2009 and recently completed an additional fellowship in complex cataract surgery in Jersey. He is currently a consultant ophthalmologist at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (Reading) and Prince Charles Eye Unit (Windsor). He serves as the lead consultant for age-related macular degeneration at the Prince Charles Eye Unit.

As a GMC-recognised trainer, Mr. Kumar is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of ophthalmologists. He also provides valuable training to allied health professionals, including optometrists, orthoptists, and ophthalmic nurses.

Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Kumar enjoys gardening, travelling, and spending quality time with his family. He is also deeply involved in supporting charitable initiatives in India.
